Multifield Analysis

The prediction of the interaction between different physical field such as the mechanical, the thermal or the electric one is at the basis of the development of innovative devices such as the Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS).
The solution of the multi-field problem requires the capability to predict complex stress and displacement field. During the last two decades, the refined models based on the Carrera Unified Formulation have been extended to the analysis of the multifield problem. Their accuracy has lead to an accurate solution of the problems considered while their computational efficiency has been exploited to reduce the high computational costs due to the introduction of new fields as the thermal or the electric one.
