Summary
ICONIC is a multinational Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme. The project brings together leading academic and private sector participants to address the very important issue of improving crashworthiness in composites transportation structures. ICONIC aims to develop a critical mass of gender-balanced research and engineering leaders, across Europe, with a world-leading capability in the design of lightweight aeronautical, automotive and rail transportation composite structures with superior crashworthiness. The project is managed by Queen’s University Belfast and involves 14 partners from 7 different countries across Europe. ICONIC will bring together 15 early stage researchers (ESRs) in an innovative, integrated, multiscale and multidisciplinary research and skills development programme that goes beyond the state of the art.
