Marianna Maiaru' is an Aerospace Engineer and a Ph.D. student at Politecnico di Torino where she is pursuing a doctorate in Aerospace Engineering. She earned a BSc in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in 2008 by discussing a thesis on Inflatable structure for space applications. In the framework of the BSc, from February to June 2008, she had a traineeship at the Thales Alenia Space, Advanced Projects Unit. Afterwards she attended an MSc in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Torino and she earned the master degree in 2010 presenting a work on One-Dimensional Multi-Scale Models for the Analysis of Composite Structures. The master thesis was completed by a period, from November to December 2010, at the CRP Henri Tudor of Luxembourg, Advanced Materials and Structures (AMS) - Modelling and Simulation. The aim of the work was the development of a multi-scale structural beam model for a better understanding of the failure mechanisms of fibre reinforced composite materials. Her Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering started in January 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Erasmo Carrera (Politecnico di Torino).
