Mayank Patni is a Ph.D. student at University of Bristol, U.K., enrolled in the FullComp team under the H2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie European Training Network. He earned the Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mechanical) from Devi Ahilya University, India in 2010 and the Master of Technology degree (Applied Mechanics) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi in 2012. In his Master’s thesis he worked on ‘Active Vibration Control of Functionally Graded Material Structures’. He was also involved in a couple of rural development projects at IIT Delhi and participated in various national and Asian conferences.

He worked as an Application Engineer at ANSYS Inc., Pune (July 2012 - January, 2016), responsible for solving customer’s modeling and simulation queries. He conducted over 45 trainings in the area of Linear Static, Structural dynamics, Contact and Material Non-linearity and Thermal analysis using ANSYS. Besides, he was a part-time lecturer at Institutes (The GATE Academy and Career Avenues) in India, (2012-2015) where he taught Solid Mechanics, Thermal Engineering and Engineering Mathematics to undergraduate students. His research activity as part of the FULLCOMP project is related to the design and optimization of composite structures through advanced models based on Carrera Unified Formulation, with particular attention paid to the buckling analysis of thin-walled shells and to the design of aerospace structures.
