Summary

Google Lunar X PRIZE is the international competition sponsored by Google with the aim to safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon, have that robot travel 500 meters over the lunar surface, and send video, images and data back to the Earth.

MUL2 group participates to the Google Lunar X PRIZE,with the TEAM ITALIA, by performing some of the structural analysis of the Lander (designed by TASI) and the Rover (designed by CGS) Modules Loadings coming from lunch conditions, mission profiles and on moon maneuvers are taken into account.

The whole structure can be seen as a set of primary and secondary structures suitable to host the main rover and others unconventional systems as well as the related separation systems. One of the possible configurations provides the rover structure installed on the top of the lander module; the related tdeployer mechanism has been developed by the prof. Chiesa team of the Politecnico di Torino. FE Models has been created and the necessary structural analysis have been carried out with NASTRAN static and dynamic solver.
